Mission Statement

To promote diversity in the local legal community and ensure equal opportunity and inclusion for Spokane attorneys regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age and disability in the membership, leadership and activities of the Spokane County Bar Association. Through collaboration with the Gonzaga University School of Law and other organizations, the Diversity Section is committed to promoting inclusiveness through ongoing efforts focusing on recruitment and retention of diverse attorneys within the local bar association and judicial system.

BOT Liaison:
Annual Meeting/Elections: January as determined by Exec Cmte.  Bylaws §3.1.  Because not aligned w/SCBA annual meeting, FLS must ensure their officers renew SCBA membership 9 months into their term of office.
Report to the SCBA BOT: Annually, formulate and present the Section’s prior year’s work “as required by the Bar.” §5.2
Meeting Schedule: 3rd Tuesday of each month (except June, August, Nov. and Dec.)
Meeting Notice: Reasonable
Meeting Minutes: Bylaws silent.
Fiscal Year: September 1 – August 31
ELECTIONS: During January annual meeting. SCBA membership required for both current and following SCBA fiscal years (Sept. 1– August 31)
CLEs/Events Planned:  February Diversity Luncheon
