What is the Volunteers Lawyers Program?

The Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP) is a legal assistance program of the Spokane County Bar Association. The VLP recruits volunteer attorneys to provide free legal counsel and representation in civil matters (non-criminal) to primarily low-income individuals in Spokane County and seven outlying counties, i.e. Pend Oreille, Ferry, Stevens, Adams, Grant, Lincoln, and Whitman. It is funded primarily by a grant from the Legal Foundation of Washington and contributions from local attorneys and annual fundraisers.

MISSION STATEMENT It is the mission of the Spokane County Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program to provide select legal services to low-income residents of Spokane County and outlying counties who may otherwise be denied adequate representation or access to the civil justice system, and to encourage local attorneys to fulfill their duty to provide pro bono services.
