Gordon Tilden Thomas & Cordell LLP is hiring!  We are seeking a litigation and insurance coverage associate with the following qualifications for either our Seattle or Spokane office:

  • Between two and six years of experience handling civil litigation; insurance coverage experience preferred but not required
  • A desire for a varied, high-quality complex civil litigation practice, including: business/commercial; high-stakes personal injury; insurance coverage; and trusts & estates

  • Eagerness for hands-on experience with immediate and increasing responsibility

  • Strong academic background

  • Strong writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills

We offer highly competitive salary and benefits, including:

  • Base salary range:  $135,000-$185,000 (depending on years of experience)
  • Hours-based bonus:  $10,000 for 1,600 hours; $20,000 for 1,700 hours; $35,000 for 1,800 hours

ASSISTANT CITY ATTORNEY JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The City Attorney's Office advises and represents all city elected and appointed officials, departments, employees, boards, committees, and commissions on all civil legal matters pertaining to the City of Spokane.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • This position will focus on litigation, including working with the City’s special counsel and claims adjusters. Other assigned work may include:
  • Conduct a broad range of municipal litigation, legal research, provide oral and written opinions on major substantive, procedural, and administrative issues to City departments, boards, and commissions.
  • Draft ordinances, regulations, contracts, proposals for state legislation and other legal documents.
  • Draft, review, and assist in the administration of City contracts and other procurement.
  • Analyze changes in state and federal laws and court decisions and provide legal guidance to City departments for compliance with new requirements.
  • Provide legal assistance and guidance to other attorneys within specific area of expertise.

EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) years' experience in practice of law required, with three (3) years' experience in municipal law recommended. Membership in Washington State Bar Association.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney
